Dr. Galloway is a California native who has lived in the Bay Area for a total of 18 years. He first came here for college and was drawn back to San Francisco after his graduate training by the unparalleled natural beauty, rich cultural opportunities, and wonderfully diverse community.
He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley. He then worked in psychiatry research labs at Stanford and SRI International that used neuroimaging and neuropsychology to better understand conditions including alcohol dependence and schizophrenia. After receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2006 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he completed a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Excellence in Substance Abuse Treatment and Education at the Seattle VA.
Dr. Galloway is a Staff Psychologist and Program Director for an Addiction Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program at a local medical center where he has worked for the past 10 years. He provides direct clinical care, teaches trainees from Psychology, Psychiatry, Nursing, and Social Work, and holds leadership roles. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSF.
